Mels Alpha-numeric Blog Hop!!
Hello & welcome to my part of the blog hop organised by the marvelous Mel at I Speak Melsh. You should have reached me via Stacey but if you happened here by chance please feel free to start at Mels blog by clicking her link & then follow the blogs in order or just carry on to the next blog from here :) The theme for this hop is Alpha-numeric. It started as just an alphabetical theme but I think Mel underestimated her fans/followers so she had to expand to numbers!! I have been allocated the number 2 .... not an exciting number like 7 or 13 is it? But after giving it some thought I realised how important this little number is in our lives. We live in a (mostly) symetrical world. Where would we be without a pair of hands or eyes or legs? Goodness we would be without pairs of shoes!! From pairs we can go to twins. My aunty had 2 sets of twins - one set in each marriage! 2 peas in a pod! Terrible picture ...... sorry Aunty but its the only one I have! This is c1965 with her first twins - I still can't tell the difference between them 40+ years later! My aunts other twins were born about 10 years later, girls again but this time non-identical. They were 2 of my 4 bridesmaids in 1989 :) Another terrible photo but I didn't keep many. The twins are the first two to my right. Wikipedia has a wealth of information on the number two. For example it is the first & smallest prime number and the only even one. Other references of course can be made to 2nd best, 2nd marriage, 2 halves, 2 hearts beat as one, put two & two together, 2 o'clock, etc etc! But I think I will end with this photo of the Twin Towers. Your next hop on our journey is to Helena's Creative Maven
If you have any problems with any of the links (we are all over the world so some time zones and some blogging platforms auto-posts may throw a spanner in the works) please go back to Mels where she has a full list of all the participants
Thankyou for reading my blog :) Happy hopping!! x

Jakes 8!!
My Goodness. You turn your back for 5 minutes and all of a sudden your baby is 8 years old! Would somebody like to explain where the last few years went. Because its scary to think that in only 2 years he will be in double figures (& I will be 50 but we're not going to mention that) and we will be celebrating his 10th (& my 50th apparently) at Disneyland, Paris!! Eeek :(( But back to the present. My boy had a party at home this year. We had 8 of his friends to come for a couple of hours in the afternoon. There was a bouncy castle where lots of screaming 8 year olds (and a highly excitable 4 year old cousin) had lots of bouncy fun......... There was a MarioKart knockout competition on the wii ...... Jake enjoyed telling everyone what to do here!
There was more bouncing to be had by screaming 8 year olds who needed more thrills ...........

This time last year.....
........ goodness I had forgotten all about this day out!! It was such a cold & windy day & Jake really doesn't have much of an attention span so really it was a bit of a disappointing experience. But a year on we would like to go again because since we last visited the site a replica roman villa has been built close by. The building of the villa was filmed by Channel 4 and made into a documentary which was shown recently ...... though why they had to employ some of the laziest builders they could find beats me!! (picture from English Heritage) So as soon as we get some nice warm weather we will be packing a picnic basket & setting off to spend a lazy, cultural afternoon at our local villa (its only a 15 minute drive away!!)
